Jason Watt is the Bühler Instructor of Milling at Kansas State University's Department of Grain Science and Industry, appointed in 2015. He splits his time between teaching undergraduate courses, delivering short courses at the IGP Institute, and conducting milling-related research. His expertise spans technical milling, flour safety, and sorghum milling applications.
Education:
- B.S. in Milling Science and Operations (Kansas State University, 2008)
- A.S. in Mathematics (Butler Community College, 2006)
Research focuses on optimizing milling processes, mitigating microbial risks in flour, and advancing sorghum utilization. He collaborates with industry through roles in the IAOM’s Education Committee and short course development.
Teaching responsibilities include GRSC courses on foundational grain science, milling science lectures/labs, specialty grain milling, and internships.
Labs/Teams: Active in the Hal Ross Flour Mill and O.H. Kruse Feed Technology Center facilities.
