Jason Sturgess is a Professor of Financial Economics and former Head of the School of Economics and Finance at Queen Mary University of London. He previously held roles at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and DePaul University’s Driehaus College of Business. He earned his PhD in Finance from London Business School and has extensive experience in project finance and M&A.
His research focuses on corporate finance, financial intermediation, regulation, information economics, and asset pricing. Key topics include security lending markets, short selling, limits to arbitrage, and corporate governance. His work has been published in top journals like the Journal of Finance and Review of Financial Studies.
Sturgess has received prestigious awards, including the BlackRock Inc. & NACD Global Challenge for Innovation Award and the Q Group research grant. His research has been presented globally at conferences such as the American Finance Association and European Finance Association.
He teaches across academic levels, including PhD, MBA, and undergraduate courses in finance. His research collaborations span institutions worldwide, and he actively contributes to policy discussions on financial markets and institutional frameworks.
