Prof. Pedro Saffi is a Professor of Financial Economics at Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, and the Director of its Master of Finance (MFin) Programme. He holds a PhD in Finance from London Business School (2007), an MSc in Economics from Fundação Getulio Vargas (2002), and a BA in Economics from IBMEC Business School (1999).
Research Interests
Pedro's research focuses on security lending markets, short selling, liquidity risk, limits to arbitrage, and how differences of belief influence trading volume. He also explores broader themes in financial economics, including corporate governance, market efficiency, and investor behavior.
Academic Contributions
His work has been published in top-tier journals such as the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, and JFQA. Recent articles include analyses of price informativeness, product complexity, and shareholder-creditor conflicts. These studies often intersect with trading frictions, institutional ownership, and ESG considerations.
