Jason Michael Thomas is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Aston University's School of Psychology, with affiliations to the Applied Health Research Group and College of Health and Life Sciences. He previously worked as a Lecturer at Aston (2016-2020) and Research Fellow at University of Birmingham (2013-2016).

His research focuses on biopsychological aspects of human eating behavior, integrating psychopharmacological, cognitive, and social norm influences to develop interventions for improved health outcomes. Key areas include appetite regulation, food memory, nutritional supplementation for older adults, and social norm messaging for healthier eating.
Recent publications examine behavioral analysis of neurodegenerative disease prescribing, texture analysis of plant-based foods, social media's impact on fruit/vegetable consumption, and cognitive influences on portion size selection. His 2023 datasets explore memory-based dietary judgments and health claim misremembering.
Scientific distinctions include Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (2019) and multiple grants from ESRC, BBSRC, and KTP programs. He supervises 2 current PhD students and has completed 4 PhD supervisions, including Dr Nicola-Jayne Tuck (2016) and Dr Lily Hawkins (2017).
