Claire Farrow is a Professor of Children's Eating Behaviour at Aston University, serving as Deputy Head of the School of Psychology and Associate Dean for Research in the College of Health & Life Sciences. She holds academic affiliations with the Applied Health Research Group and Aston Institute of Health & Neurodevelopment.
Qualifications include a B.Sc. (First Class Honours) and Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Birmingham (2001, 2005), and a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (2007). She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences.
Her research focuses on healthy child eating behaviors, addressing fussy eating, obesity, and family dynamics. Current projects include interventions for children with avid appetites, emotional eating, language development linked to mealtimes in Kenya/Zambia, and culturally sensitive feeding practices. She has developed resources like the 'Child Feeding Guide' and 'Vegetable Maths Masters' app.
Award-winning grants include £978k (ESRC) for Kenya/Zambia language-mealtimes research and £979k (ESRC) for pre-schooler appetite studies. Awards include the 2015 Best App Award and 2014 Social Enterprise Award.
Teaching includes 'Lifespan Development' and supervision of Masters/PhD students. Professional roles include membership in UKRI Peer Review College and Academy of Medical Sciences Springboard Committee.
