Dr. Jason Kindrachuk is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the University of Manitoba’s Max Rady College of Medicine. He holds the Canada Research Chair in molecular pathogenesis of emerging viruses and collaborates with institutions including the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM), Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO), Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), and Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
- Education: PhD in Biochemistry (University of Saskatchewan, 2007); BSc (University of Saskatchewan, 2001)
Research Interests: Dr. Kindrachuk investigates emerging viruses (e.g., ebolaviruses, coronaviruses, influenza viruses) with a focus on pathogenesis, transmission, and outbreak preparedness. His work spans molecular mechanisms, kinome analysis, host-pathogen interactions, and One Health approaches to global threats. He leads initiatives through the Consortium for Intercepting Emerging Diseases in Africa (CIEDA) and contributes to international outbreak response, including the West African Ebola epidemic and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
