Jason Hickey

Jason Hickey is an Associate Professor at the University of New Brunswick's Faculty of Nursing. He holds a PhD from the University of Manchester (2018), an MScA in Nursing from McGill University (2010), and a BSc in Psychology from Dalhousie University (2001). His professional development includes certification from the Grounded Theory Institute.

His research focuses on Indigenous wellbeing, cross-cultural mental health recovery, and mixed methods approaches. Key areas include mental health promotion strategies and grounded theory applications in healthcare contexts.

Hickey leads multiple funded projects including a CIHR Indigenous Research Chair initiative ($75,000) on urban Indigenous wellbeing in Atlantic Canada and a Government of New Brunswick reconciliation project ($78,840). He teaches courses including Nursing as a Profession, Mental Health Challenges, and Indigenous Perspectives on Health.
