Jason Hart is Professor of Humanitarianism & Development at the University of Bath's Department of Social & Policy Sciences, with additional affiliations to the Centre for Development Studies and Refugee Studies Centre. He holds visiting positions at the University of Geneva and Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
Research explores young people in contexts of political violence and displacement, with regional expertise in South Asia and the Middle East. Work examines child protection frameworks, humanitarian response, and refugee experiences through interdisciplinary lenses.
Publications reflect sustained engagement with child protection in conflict zones, refugee shelter design, and critical humanitarian studies, evolving toward participatory methodologies and contextual analysis.

Current doctoral supervision includes projects on girlhood in Tanzania, refugee integration, and asylum-seeking children. Leads ESRC/GCRF project on Healthy Housing for the Displaced (2016-2020).
