Dr. Jason Chandrinos holds the position of Postdoctoral Researcher at the Chair of European History (19th and 20th Centuries) at the University of Regensburg, Germany, since October 2018. His research focuses on the German occupation of Greece during WWII, concentration camp systems, forced labor dynamics, oral history methodologies, and urban history. He has held roles including DAAD Guest Lecturer (2016-2017) and Research Associate in projects such as the Memories of the Occupation in Greece (MOG) at Freie Universität Berlin (2016-2018).
Education: PhD from University of Athens (2010-2015), MA in Modern Greek and European History (2006-2009), BA in History and Archaeology (2002-2006). Professional experience includes roles at the Jewish Museum of Greece and editorial work for Istoria tou Ethnous.
His research projects examine themes like imprisonment systems in the Third Reich, labor migration during WWII, and Greek resistance movements. His publications include monographs on Athenian Jewish communities under occupation and comparative studies on post-occupation retribution mechanisms. Chandrinos also engages in public history initiatives, such as collaborating on the 'Silent Heroes' exhibition on Holocaust resistance.
Teaching activities include leading courses on modern European history, with upcoming lectures in 2022 focusing on 20th-century conflict dynamics. His work bridges academic research with public engagement, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to historical trauma and memory.
