Fotakis Achilleas

Achilleas Fotakis is a Lecturer in the Department of Social Anthropology and History at the University of the Aegean. He holds a PhD in modern history (NKUA, 2016) and teaches courses on history education and ideology. His research focuses on policing history, gender studies, and Jewish history.

• PhD in Modern History (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, 2016)
• Pedagogy certification from ASPAITE (2016)

Research Interests:

• History of policing and security institutions
• Gender and legal frameworks in 20th-century Greece
• Jewish communities in Salonica and their historical narratives
• WWII memory and postwar state restructuring

Recent Research Trends: His publications explore intersections between security practices, economic policies, and gender dynamics, with a focus on Greek historical contexts. Recent work analyzes WWII memory in police narratives and postwar economic-security linkages.
