Dr. Jasmine K Gani is an Assistant Professor in International Relations Theory at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her work focuses on anti-colonial theory, empire studies, race and imperialism, and Middle East politics. She holds a PhD and MSc from LSE and a BA from King's College London.
Her research examines the intersections of race, militarism, and state power, with a monograph on 'Racial Militarism' and prior work on Syrian anti-colonialism. She co-edited the centenary International Affairs special issue on 'Race and Imperialism in International Relations,' challenging mainstream IR's colonial legacies.
Previously, she was a Senior Lecturer at the University of St Andrews, where she co-directed the Centre for Syrian Studies (awarded 'world-class' status). She teaches courses on postcolonialism, decoloniality, and the Arab-Israeli conflict. Her awards include multiple teaching recognitions at St Andrews and LSE.
Dr. Gani sits on the editorial boards of International Affairs and Millennium, and chairs the Global IR section at the International Studies Association. She holds visiting roles at St Andrews and Georgetown University.
