Dr. Jasmine Abrams is a Research Scientist in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department at Yale School of Public Health (YSPH), with a concurrent appointment as Presidential Research Fellow at Yale University. Her work focuses on global health equity, particularly maternal and sexual health among Black women across the African Diaspora, including the US, Haiti, Dominican Republic, and Brazil. She holds a PhD in Health Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and has secured multimillion-dollar federal grants from NIH institutes (NHLBI, NIMHD, NIMH, Fogarty).
Her research integrates intersectional frameworks to address systemic inequities in healthcare access and outcomes. Notable projects include qualitative studies on stigma barriers in Haiti’s maternal healthcare system, PFAS exposure effects on female sexual function, and innovative remote blood pressure monitoring programs in safety-net hospitals. Dr. Abrams is co-founder of Research Unlimited and founder of the Thrive Institute, which provide professional development and wellness support for researchers through retreats and training.
