Jasjeet S. Sekhon is the Eugene Meyer Professor of Political Science and Statistics & Data Science at Yale University, where he leads the Institute for the Foundations of Data Science. He also serves as Chief Scientist and Head of AI/ML at Bridgewater Associates, bridging academia and industry. His research focuses on causal inference, machine learning, and their applications in biomedical and social decision systems, emphasizing AI safety and interpretable methods for causal relationships. He holds a Ph.D. from Cornell University and an undergraduate degree from the University of British Columbia.
Prior to Yale, Sekhon was the Robson Professor at UC Berkeley and an associate professor at Harvard University. His work spans disciplines including epidemiology, economics, and political science, with notable contributions to software tools like Matching and rgenoud for causal analysis and optimization. His awards include the Warren Miller Prize and Gosnell Prize.
Key research interests include AI risk mitigation, clinical decision support systems (e.g., GutGPT), and robust statistical methodologies. He collaborates across fields such as healthcare, leveraging machine learning to address challenges in diagnostics, policy evaluation, and algorithmic transparency.
