Jasen Golding is a Teaching Professor at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), affiliated with the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management. He holds a BSc in Biology from Dalhousie University, a BSc in Forestry and Environmental Management, and a Master of Forest Engineering (MFE) from UNB. Additionally, he is a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) and serves as Forest Lands Manager, overseeing 3,600 hectares of university-owned forested lands prioritized for teaching, research, and sustainable management.
His academic interests focus on shade-tolerant hardwood management, non-traditional harvest techniques, and forest operations planning. He emphasizes hands-on field training for students, collaborating with industry partners, private woodlot owners, and marketing boards. Jasen joined UNB in 2005 after working as an Operational Superintendent in industrial forestry, bringing extensive practical experience to academia.
As Forest Lands Manager, he manages land use for teaching, research, forest harvest, road construction, and community recreation. He also provides professional consulting services to government and private agencies. Jasen was honored with the 2013 Alan P. Stuart Award for Excellence in Teaching and remains an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting.
