Jarice Butterfield, PhD, is an Adjunct Professor in the Education Program at Antioch University. She currently serves as the Santa Barbara County SELPA Director and has extensive experience in special education, English language development, and traumatic brain injury (TBI) training.
- PhD in Education Leadership & Organizations with emphasis in Special Education and School Psychology (University of California Santa Barbara)
- MA in Special Education (California State University Northridge)
- MA in Education Leadership & Organizations (University of California Santa Barbara)
- BA in Elementary and Special Education (University of Wyoming)
Her research and professional work focus on integrating technology-assisted instruction into English language development programs, creating mental health initiatives for students, and addressing the needs of English learners with disabilities. She has authored practical resources such as the Meeting the Needs of English Learners with Disabilities handbook and the Linguistically Appropriate IEP Goal Bank.
Butterfield provides national and state-level staff development on special education and TBI, and has served as Chair of the State SELPA Directors’ Association Ad Hoc English Learner Committee.
