Jared Dockery, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Communication and Department of History & Political Science at Harding University. He also serves as Debate Coach. His academic work focuses on military history, Cold War studies, and historiography, with a particular emphasis on American military conflicts and their historical narratives.
Dr. Dockery’s research interests span naval history, military ethics, and the intersection of war and journalism. He has contributed peer-reviewed articles and book chapters analyzing key figures like George C. Marshall, pivotal events such as the Korean War, and historical accounts of World War II battles like the Battle of San Pietro and D-Day.
His recent work includes an analysis of Marshall’s role in the Korean War and reviews of books documenting naval history (USS Arkansas), combat journalism (Ernie Pyle), and Ranger Battalion operations during WWII. Dockery’s interdisciplinary approach bridges communication and historical scholarship, reflecting his dual departmental affiliations.
