Jared Burkholder, Ph.D., is a Professor of American and World History and Program Director for the History and Political Science department at Grace College and Theological Seminary. He holds degrees from Columbia International University (B.A.), Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (M.A.), and the University of Iowa (Ph.D.).
His research focuses on American religious history, particularly evangelicalism, Pietism, Anabaptism, and the Moravian Church. Notable works include Brethren Intersections (2020), Becoming Grace (2015), and The Activist Impulse (2012). He has contributed to journals such as Journal of Moravian History and Reflections: Journal of the Missionary Church Historical Society.
Dr. Burkholder has received awards like the Alva J. McClain Award for Faculty Excellence (2015) and the Snowden Fellowship (2014). He actively engages in media and public scholarship, including C-SPAN’s Lectures in History (2015) and contributions to Christian History Magazine and Grace Connect.
His academic service includes directing the History and Political Science program and teaching courses on colonial America, religious history, and historiography. He has collaborated on digital humanities projects like Digital Moravians, enhancing classroom engagement with historical materials.
