Janni Alho serves as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Education and Psychology, University of Jyväskylä, specializing in educational leadership competence development across Finnish educational contexts.
Her research centers on relational leadership approaches in teacher education, with significant focus on student teachers' leadership development through structured interventions like study groups. Current work examines leadership competence development for formal leaders in early childhood education and basic education through the EDUCA Flagship project, building on her dissertation research in initial teacher education programs.
Analysis of her 2023-2025 publications reveals consistent exploration of Finnish contextual factors in leadership development, with methodological emphasis on qualitative examination of intervention efficacy. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications in teacher training, particularly through collaborative study group models that enhance teacher leadership competencies.
Dr. Alho actively contributes to the FinEdLead research community (Finnish research community in educational leadership) and participates in the EDUCA Flagship project addressing future educational challenges. She also investigates ethical dimensions in teacher selection through the "Ethical selection situations, support and competence of teachers" project, examining practitioner and student perspectives on ethical dilemmas in educational settings.
