Taina Saarinen is a Research Professor and Director of the Finnish Institute for Educational Research at the University of Jyväskylä. She leads major projects like the EDUCA Flagship and ULearn Profiling Activity, addressing education policy futures and learning variability. She chairs the Edistyksellinen tiedeliitto and previously chaired Korkeakoulututkimuksen seura.

She co-leads initiatives on education policy resilience and academic work conditions.
