Taina Saarinen is a Research Professor and Director of the Finnish Institute for Educational Research at the University of Jyväskylä. Her work focuses on higher education policy, language policy, and academic wellbeing. She leads major projects like the EDUCA Flagship and ULearn Profiling Activity, addressing education policy futures and learning variability. She chairs the Edistyksellinen tiedeliitto and previously chaired Korkeakoulututkimuksen seura.
Her research interests include equity in higher education, language ideologies in academic contexts, and crisis leadership in academia. She co-leads initiatives on education policy resilience and academic work conditions. Key projects include analyzing university strategies' discourses, crisis management frameworks, and multilingual education challenges.
Publications emphasize critical analyses of internationalization, language dynamics in education, and wellbeing in academic environments. She critiques populist influences on education policy and advocates for systemic reforms through collaborative leadership. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical policy interventions.
