Janne Støen

Janne Støen is an Associate Professor at the Norwegian Centre for Learning Environment and Behavioral Research in Education, Faculty of Arts and Education, University of Stavanger. Her work bridges research and practice in school psychology, inclusion, and learning environments.

Her research focuses on school bullying, inclusion of immigrant students, learning environment development, and pedagogical analysis. She explores the social, legal, and systemic dimensions of bullying, with particular attention to teacher behaviors, parental involvement, and cross-national policy frameworks. Her work also investigates models for inclusion and the integration of newly arrived migrant students into Norwegian schools.

Her recent publications show a strong trend toward international comparative studies, policy analysis, and qualitative investigations into teacher, student, and parent experiences. She frequently publishes in journals such as the International Journal of Bullying Prevention and International Journal of Inclusive Education, and contributes to edited volumes on migration and education.

Janne Støen actively disseminates her research through national and international conferences, including the World Anti-Bullying Forum and NERA. She is involved in practical applications of her research, delivering lectures and workshops on the LP-model, SNU method, and strategies for creating safe and supportive school environments.

She has extensive collaborative work with researchers such as Hildegunn Fandrem, Erling Roland, and Hanne Jahnsen, particularly through the Stigma Project. Her work demonstrates a sustained commitment to improving educational practices and policies related to behavioral and social challenges in schools.
