Janne Lundén is a Professor in Food Hygiene and Environmental Health at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Helsinki. He actively supervises doctoral students in the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Veterinary Medicine and the Doctoral Programme in Food Chain and Health, and leads the Helsinki One Health (HOH) Food Control research group.

Recent Research Trends: His 2024-2025 publications focus on optimizing food control inspections, combating Campylobacter/Salmonella infections, and improving regulatory frameworks for food safety. Studies include simulation modeling, empirical analysis of inspection effectiveness, and qualitative assessments of inspector perceptions of remote control technologies.

Advising & Grants: Supervises doctoral theses and leads projects funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Finnish Veterinary Foundation, and Walter Ehrström Foundation, including ongoing research on the Oiva-system’s impact on food control (2023–2024) and NKJ networks (2025–2027).
Labs & Teams: Leads the Helsinki One Health (HOH) Food Control research group, collaborating with institutions like Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and public organizations in Finland.
