معرفی
Janne Blichert-Toft is a CNRS Research Director at the Laboratoire de Géologie de Lyon: Terre, Planètes, Environnement (LGL-TPE), affiliated with University of Lyon. Her research focuses on planetary mantle dynamics, crustal evolution, and isotope geochemistry, with groundbreaking contributions to understanding Earth's early history and extraterrestrial bodies like Mars. She pioneered novel applications of isotope geochemistry for tracing ancient silver sources in coinage and studying prehistoric magma systems.
Affiliations:
- LGL-TPE (CNRS/ENS de Lyon/University Lyon 1/Jean Monnet University)
- Member of EAG, AGU, and American Mineralogical Society
Research Interests: Planetary evolution, mantle heterogeneity, isotope geochemistry, ancient metallurgy, and crustal dynamics. She has developed innovative methodologies for analyzing ore deposits and coinage to reconstruct ancient trade networks and technological practices.
Awards:
- 2024 EAG Urey Award (highest honor in European geochemistry)
- 2022 Harry H. Hess Medal (AGU)
- 2022 Dolomieu Prize (first woman recipient)
- 2012 CNRS Silver Medal
Leadership & Service: Editor for multiple journals, mentor to numerous students/postdocs, and advocate for geochemistry's role in addressing global challenges like sustainable resource management and climate change.
