The University of Tennessee at Chattanoogaمعرفی
Jannatul Ferdoush is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology, Geology, and Environmental Science at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). Her research focuses on regulation of eukaryotic gene expression, particularly mechanisms involving the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) and its role in cancer progression. She holds a PhD in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry from Southern Illinois University (2019).
Her primary research interests include:
- UPS regulation of transcription factors and coactivators (e.g., Paf1C, SAGA complex)
- Identification of cancer biomarkers using high-throughput genomic analysis and molecular docking
- Development of therapeutic interventions targeting UPS pathways in cancers like pancreatic, bladder, and renal cell carcinomas
- Epigenetic regulation of transcription elongation and mRNA export
Recent work highlights her contributions to:
- Biomarker discovery for kidney and liver cancers (2025)
- Genome-editing approaches for plastic degradation (PlastiCRISPR project)
- Mechanisms linking UPS dysregulation to pancreatic oncogenesis
Dr. Ferdoush has presented at conferences including the Association of Southeastern Biologists and International Biotechnology Conferences. Her lab integrates computational methods with molecular biology techniques to bridge basic science and translational medicine.
