Janine de Zeeuw

Dr. Janine de Zeeuw is a Postdoc researcher at the Department of Health Sciences, Global Health Unit within the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Groningen. Her work focuses on global health challenges, including improving health systems, vaccination equity, cervical cancer screening strategies, and healthcare education. She leads or co-leads major EU-funded projects such as PRESCRIP-TEC (HPV screening innovations), RIVER-EU (vaccination access for underserved communities), and HEALCARe (health literacy training for nurses in Tanzania).

Her research expertise spans Universal Health Coverage, Global Health Education, and Mixed-Methods Research. She has designed and evaluated educational programs to enhance respectful care competencies among nurses and contributed to projects addressing healthcare barriers for marginalized populations. Dr. de Zeeuw also serves as Chair of the Global Health Education Network (NVTG).

Recent publications highlight her focus on HPV vaccination uptake among migrant communities in the Netherlands, cervical cancer screening strategies in Uganda and Bangladesh, and global physician knowledge gaps regarding fibromyalgia. Her work emphasizes scalable interventions in low-resource settings and addressing health literacy challenges in multimorbidity management.

Dr. de Zeeuw supervises medical students in bachelor and master thesis projects, particularly in Health Systems and Prevention tracks. She collaborates with international partners through initiatives like the IMPACCT project (health literacy communication training for healthcare providers in Europe).
