Janine Pavlis

Janine Pavlis is a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education at St Mary's University, specializing in Design and Technology (D&T). She joined the university in 2021 after 13 years as a primary school teacher and leader. Her roles include teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate teacher training programs, with a focus on enhancing D&T's role in the primary curriculum. She holds a BA (Hons) in Primary Education from St Mary’s, a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice, and a Master's in Education from University College London.

Her research interests center on improving D&T education, including its integration with computing, STEM, and sustainability. She emphasizes teacher training, professional development, and the importance of experiential learning. Janine is an active member of academic communities, serving as Vice Chair of the Design and Technology Teacher Educator Group (DTTEG) and a reviewer for the Design and Technology Education: An International Journal.

Janine is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). Her recent work explores the intersection of motherhood and academic research, as well as challenges in primary curriculum design. She regularly contributes to conferences, podcasts, and advisory projects, advocating for innovative teaching practices.
