Leanne Mee is a Senior Lecturer in Design and Technology at the University of Chester, based in the School of Education within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. She serves as the PGCE Secondary Design and Technology subject lead and contributes to Primary programmes in Art and Design and Technology. Her professional roles include teaching on the PGCE Primary, BA QTS, and PGCE Secondary Initial Teacher Education programmes.
Leanne's research focuses on the value of Design and Technology (D&T) education in the UK, cross-curricular learning strategies, and career pathways in engineering education. She collaborates with institutions like Liverpool John Moores University, Nottingham Trent University, and St Mary's University to develop national networks for D&T teacher educators. Additionally, she advises on STEM education initiatives through her consultancy work with organizations such as the Design and Technology Association, Shropshire Council, and The Royal Academy of Engineering.
Her consultancy business provides training to improve D&T and STEM provision in schools, supported by funded projects from The Manufacturing Group and others. Leanne holds a National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership, emphasizing her expertise in educational leadership and systemic change.
