Dr. Janice Keefe is Professor and Chair of the Department of Family Studies and Gerontology at Mount Saint Vincent University, where she holds the Lena Isabel Jodrey Chair in Gerontology. Her academic background includes a BA from UPEI, MA and PhD from the University of Guelph, and previous work in public municipal home care.
Her research investigates family/friend caregiving dynamics, formal caregiver human resource issues, dementia care systems, and rural aging challenges, with particular attention to policy implications and quality of life in long-term care settings.
Dr. Keefe's extensive publication record demonstrates a consistent focus on improving care systems through empirical studies of workforce conditions, policy evaluation, and innovative care models, particularly through national initiatives like the SALTY project.
