Janet Welch serves as an Assistant Professor of Nursing and Interim Assistant Dean of Nursing at Bushnell University's School of Nursing. She joined the institution in 2016 as adjunct faculty, transitioned to part-time education in 2017, and has held a full-time teaching position since summer 2018 while overseeing both the ABSN and RN to BSN programs.
Her educational background includes:
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of Minnesota (1981), specializing in nursing education and medical-surgical nursing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Minnesota (1977)
Professor Welch's professional focus spans acute care medical-surgical nursing with clinical expertise in cardiac, medical, post-surgical, and oncology settings. Her work emphasizes case management, discharge planning, palliative care, and safe client care transitions. She actively integrates Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives into nursing curricula and pursues continuous quality improvement in educational frameworks.
As an educator, she teaches health promotion, acute and chronic illness nursing, integrative clinical practicum, pathophysiology, and pharmacology, utilizing simulation-based clinical training. She serves as Vice President of Bushnell University's Alpha Alpha Tau chapter of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society and maintains active memberships in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing DEI Leadership Network, American Nurses Association, National RN-Baccalaureate Faculty Forum, Online Learning Consortium, and Nurses Christian Fellowship.
