معرفی
Janet Steven is a Professor in the Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Science at Christopher Newport University (CNU), affiliated with the Center for Sustainability in Education. Her teaching focuses on plant biology, evolution, conservation, and quantitative methods. She holds a Ph.D. in Botany from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BS in Biology from Davidson College.
Her research explores microevolutionary processes, deer impacts on plant populations, and population genetics of fern species. Techniques include molecular tools and field observations. Recent work addresses deer overabundance effects on natural selection and genetic structure of ferns.
Key publications include studies on epigenetics in plant-pollinator interactions, drought resilience in plants, and ecological niche parameters in Silene species. She has received the Class of 2013 Faculty Development Fund Award (2017).
Grants include projects on fern microsatellites, peatland CO2 dynamics, and long-term plant community changes. Her lab collaborates on interdisciplinary ecology and conservation initiatives.
