Jennifer Ison

Jennifer Ison is Associate Professor of Biology at The College of Wooster. Her research examines anthropogenic impacts on native plant and bee populations, focusing on fragmented ecosystems where less than 1% of original prairie remains.

The Ison Lab investigates flowering time, plant density, and pollinator effectiveness in fragmented landscapes. Research combines field botany, ecological genetics, and conservation biology to understand population persistence mechanisms.

Publications explore pollinator-mediated reproduction, genetic variation in flowering timing, and specialist-pollinator relationships in composites. Recent work analyzes outcrossing distance effects in prairie forbs and longitudinal selection in flowering traits.
