Janet Johnson serves as an Instructor and Coordinator of Academic Advising for Undergraduate students in the Tift College of Education at Mercer University, where she has held a permanent position since 2010 after initially joining as a visiting instructor (2008-2009).
Her educational background includes:
- MEd in Middle Grades Education, Mercer University (1981)
- BSEd in Elementary Education, Georgia Southern University (1976)
Johnson's research and professional focus centers on academic advising systems, elementary education pedagogy, and special needs advocacy. She actively recruits teachers through Southern Crescent Technical College's Elementary Education Advisory Board while developing strategies for classroom management and new teacher mentorship. Her work emphasizes practical applications in early childhood education environments.
She received the Best of the Best Teacher award from Spalding County in 2002 for her prior 30-year elementary school teaching career.
