Janesh Pillay is a Professor at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Medical Sciences, affiliated with the Critical care, Anesthesiology, Peri-operative and Emergency medicine (CAPE) department at UMCG. His research focuses on critical care medicine, particularly leveraging PET/CT imaging to diagnose infections and inflammation in critically ill patients, and investigating extracellular matrix dynamics in diseases like ARDS and severe COVID-19. He has contributed to understanding corticosteroid effects on matrix turnover and ventilation strategies in ARDS.
His editorial roles include serving on the boards of Scientific Reports and American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. He presented on TB-PET applications in ICUs at a 2024 conference. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.
