Professor Jane West is an Honorary Professor in Public Health at the University of Sheffield's School of Medicine and Population Health. She serves as Director of Public Health Research and ActEarly Consultant in Public Health at the Bradford Institute for Health Research (BIHR), focusing on early life interventions to reduce non-communicable disease risks in children. Her work spans the UK Prevention Research Partnership (UKPRP) ActEarly Consortium, the Born in Bradford (BiB) cohort study, and the Age of Wonder programme.
Her research examines ethnic differences in child size and growth, particularly between Pakistani and White British children, emphasizing maternal BMI and pre-pregnancy health. She contributes to population health systems science and decision modeling through the MRC Skills Development Fellowship Programme and leads public health initiatives via the NIHR Yorkshire and Humber Applied Research Collaboration (ARC).
