Jane Tillin

Jane Tillin is an Associate Professor (teaching) at the University College London Institute of Education (IOE), specializing in Curriculum, Pedagogy & Assessment. She holds dual appointments in the IOE's Learning & Leadership division and the Curriculum, Pedagogy & Assessment department. Her roles include ITE Stage 2 Project Lead and leadership of the PSHE specialism on the Primary PGCE program.

Education: She is pursuing an EdD (2019–2026) examining partnership dynamics in teacher education and holds a PGDip in Social Science Research Methods (2019). Professional qualifications include SAPERE certification as a Philosophy for Children trainer.

Research focuses on integrating reasoned dialogue in PSHE through P4C pedagogy, sustainability education via school gardening partnerships with the RHS, and reaccreditation of ITE programs to meet DfE criteria. Key projects include a groundbreaking RHS collaboration (2022–present) expanding sustainability across the Primary PGCE curriculum.

Teaching and leadership: Supervises ITE students since 2014, transitioning from Teach First PGDE to Primary PGCE. Leads curriculum development initiatives and advises on teacher training partnerships. Non-academic roles include Trustee at the PSHE Association since 2022.
