Jane Stanley is a Senior Lecturer in Music at the University of Glasgow, specializing in composition with a focus on chamber and orchestral music. Born in Australia and based in the UK, she holds a PhD from the University of Sydney and has held prestigious fellowships at Harvard University (2004–2005), Tanglewood Music Center (2008), and Aspen Music Festival (2009). She founded the Scottish Young Composers Mentoring Project and is a member of the Young Academy of Scotland and the Australian Music Centre.

Her research explores embodiment in music, enculturation processes, and contemporary notation techniques. Her work emphasizes textural innovation and coloristic ensemble writing, exemplified in Suite for clarinet, violin, cello, and piano.
Stanley has received over 30 grants, including from the Australia Council for the Arts and Carnegie Trust. Her awards include the MBS Young Composer of the Year (1999–2000) and the Sarah Theresa Makinson Prize (1997). She actively mentors emerging composers through initiatives like the Young Composers Mentoring Project.
