معرفی
Professor Jane Smallman is a Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. Her research focuses on the mechanical behavior of metallic materials, particularly deformation mechanisms, crystal plasticity, and computational modeling of microstructure-property relationships. She leads the Advanced Materials Modelling Group and is affiliated with the James Hutton Institute collaboration.
Education:
- PhD in Materials Science from the University of Cambridge (2005)
- MEng in Materials Science from Imperial College London (2001)
Her research interests span multiscale modeling of deformation, high-entropy alloys, and machine learning applications in materials science. Recent work emphasizes predictive modeling of fracture and twinning mechanisms in magnesium alloys. Her articles explore experimental-computational synergy in analyzing deformation processes.
Awards:
- Royal Society Wolfson Merit Award (2018)
- Institute of Materials Medal (2020)
She advises multiple PhD projects on computational materials design and leads grants totaling £2.5M. Her Advanced Materials Lab collaborates with industrial partners in aerospace and automotive sectors.
