Jane Kloeckner is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Kansas Edwards Campus. She previously served as an attorney/advisor at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where she earned the agency's highest honors over her long career before retiring in 2021. Her mission focuses on protecting the environment and human health through education and advocacy. She holds a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri Science & Technology, a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from St. Louis University, and a Master of Law (LL.M.) in Urban Law from the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
Her professional expertise spans environmental law enforcement, hazardous substance cleanup, and legal counseling on environmental justice, federal Indian law, and climate change. She has over 17 years of teaching experience, instructing courses in the Environmental Assessment Professional Science Master’s (PSM) program and Indigenous Studies. Her research and publications address federal Indian law, climate change, and sustainable mining, appearing in law review articles.
Awarded EPA's highest honors for her career contributions, Kloeckner is recognized as an interdisciplinary professional and servant leader. Her work bridges law, environmental science, and Indigenous rights, emphasizing practical solutions for sustainability and justice.
