Jane Bennett is a Lecturer in the Department of Biology at Oberlin College, part of the College of Arts & Sciences. She has been affiliated with Oberlin since completing her graduate studies at Wright State University in 1976. Her primary responsibilities include teaching introductory biology courses, coordinating core curriculum laboratories, and supervising undergraduate teaching assistants. She oversees the department's peer-tutoring program and administers curriculum placement exams.

Her work emphasizes science education and outreach. She has been active in institutional governance, serving as secretary-treasurer of the Oberlin Sigma Xi chapter since 1984 and chair of the General Faculty Health Plan board (1988-1992). Notably, she led the HIV policy drafting committee in 1986 and addressed minority STEM students in 1990.
Her advisees have pursued diverse careers in academia, healthcare, environmental conservation, education, and biotechnology. Bennett coordinates laboratory facilities in Kettering Hall and remains engaged in curriculum development and student support initiatives.
