Jana Zivanovic serves as an English teacher and faculty member at the Faculty of Media and Communications (FMK), part of Singidunum University in Belgrade, Serbia. She concurrently holds an associate position at the Open University of Catalonia since 2020. Her prior academic appointments include teaching general English and integrated skills at the Military Academy's Department of Foreign Languages and serving as a teaching associate for 'Contemporary English' at the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Philology from 2017 to 2021.
She earned her undergraduate and master's degrees from the Department of English at the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade, and is currently preparing her doctoral dissertation. Her academic training includes Erasmus exchange at University College Dublin and specialized summer schools in psycholinguistics at Radboud University and the International Spring School of Psycholinguistics.
Dr. Zivanovic's research centers on cognitive and psycholinguistic dimensions of language learning, with emphasis on applied linguistics and English language teaching methodologies. Her work explores how cognitive processes influence communication strategies and intercultural collaboration, integrating theoretical frameworks with practical classroom applications to enhance language education.
Her 2021 publication 'Personal Growth and Communication. Intercultural Collaboration' (Springer) exemplifies her research trajectory, examining the intersection of personal development and cross-cultural communication within applied linguistics. This work reflects her broader scholarly focus on cognitive approaches to language pedagogy and intercultural competence development.
She actively contributes to professional communities as a member of the English Teachers' Association (ELTA) and the 'Heart of Translation' association, which provides free medical document translation services for patients requiring treatment domestically and internationally. Her conference participation spans national and international forums on linguistics and language education.
