Dr. Jana Anderson is a Research Fellow in the Public Health Unit of the School of Health & Wellbeing at the University of Glasgow. She holds a PhD in Molecular Functions in Disease from the Wellcome-funded program. Her research focuses on nutritional epidemiology, exploring the impact of diet on chronic diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, while also addressing the environmental sustainability of food systems.
Education:
- Bachelor’s in Zoology and Animal Behavior
- Master’s in Medical Parasitology and Epidemiology
- PhD in Molecular Functions in Disease (Wellcome-funded)
Research Interests: Combines public health with ecological perspectives to study diets’ dual impact on health and the environment. Key areas include epigenetic influences of lifestyle factors, sustainable protein sources, and reducing food waste. Uses large datasets like UK Biobank to analyze dietary patterns and health outcomes.
