Jan Reedijk is a Professor Part-Time at both Leiden University (The Netherlands) and King Saud University (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), with a 40-year career focused on coordination and bioinorganic chemistry. He has held visiting professorships at universities including Cambridge, Louvain-la-Neuve, Strasbourg, Münster, and Milan.

- Supervised 90 PhDs, 250 MSc students, and 100+ postdocs.
His research spans transition-metal coordination chemistry, bioinorganic models of metalloproteins, metal-DNA interactions, and applications in catalysis and medicine. He has also explored molecular recognition, magnetic materials, and intermolecular interactions.
Key awards include the Max Planck Research Award (1992), Honorary Chakravorty Award (2010), and election to prestigious academies: Royal Netherlands Academy of Sciences, Academia Europaea, and Finnish Academy of Sciences. He received an honorary doctorate from Nicolaus Copernicus University in 2023.
