Jan D. Vermunt

Jan D. Vermunt is a Full Professor of Learning Sciences and Educational Innovation at Eindhoven University of Technology's Eindhoven School of Education, where he previously served as Scientific Director. His research focuses on teaching and student learning in higher education, teachers' professional development, and innovative pedagogies.

His current research examines personal learning pathways, student learning data utilization, innovative teacher development, diversity in education, self-regulated learning, and challenge-based learning pedagogies. He investigates teacher learning patterns and their relationship to contextual factors and educational outcomes.

Vermunt has published extensively in top journals including Learning and Instruction, British Journal of Educational Psychology, and Teaching and Teacher Education. He served as Editor-in-Chief of Learning and Instruction from 2014-2018.

His honors include an honorary doctorate in Educational Sciences from the University of Antwerp in recognition of his scientific contributions to the field.
