Jamuna Rani Appalasamy is a Lecturer at the Malaysia School of Pharmacy, Monash University Malaysia, with over a decade of experience in pharmacy practice and academia. She holds a PhD from Monash University Malaysia, an MSc in Clinical Pharmacy from Universiti Sains Malaysia, and a BPharm (Hons) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Her research focuses on advancing healthcare access for underserved populations, particularly through digital health solutions and patient education.
Research interests include patient education, health communication, and digital health, with a focus on aging populations and marginalized communities. Notable projects include conceptualizing culturally appropriate digital health tools for the Deaf community and developing peer-led interventions for cardiovascular disease prevention in low-income groups. She has secured grants such as the School Research Grant for Clinical Pharmacy and led projects like MyCardio-PEER.
Her awards include the ECR Grant SOP 2021 and Pharmacy Practice Grant 2020. She actively mentors students and contributes to community initiatives, such as the Stroke Recurrence Awareness Campaign. Jamuna is a member of the Malaysian Pharmacists Society and reviews for journals like the International Journal of Pharmacy Practice.
