Jamin Rowan is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Brigham Young University, part of the College of Humanities. He is also the Director of the American Studies Program, a faculty affiliate of the Global Environmental Studies Program, and a faculty fellow at the Ballard Center for Social Impact. He teaches in American literature, urban studies, environmental humanities, and experiential education across the English Department, Honors Program, and General Education.

His scholarship bridges literary analysis with civic engagement and urban design.
His publications span journals such as American Literature, Journal of Urban History, and Journal of Transformative Education, reflecting a strong interdisciplinary approach. The works emphasize urban intellectual traditions, civic culture, and pedagogical innovation, often linking literature to real-world urban and environmental challenges.

His administrative roles include directing the American Studies Program and serving on the Provo City Planning Commission (2013–2019). He is also a committee chair in the American Studies Association and involved with BikeWalk Provo.
Professor Rowan leads interdisciplinary collaborations focused on storytelling, social connection, and urban sustainability. He is a key figure in BYU’s experiential learning ecosystem, integrating academic research with community impact through programs like study abroad and civic engagement initiatives.
