Jamin Wells is Associate Dean of the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities and Associate Professor of History at the University of West Florida. He founded the UWF Digital Humanities Lab in 2017 and previously directed the Public History Graduate Program.
Research focuses on maritime and coastal history, historical memory, Florida history, and public history methodologies. His award-winning book Shipwrecked examines coastal disasters and American beach development. Current research explores the intersection of memory, history, and power in Pensacola over two centuries.
Key projects include the Gulf Maritime Portal and Righting the Past public history initiative. Wells serves on the Florida State Historical Marker Council and teaches courses in Florida history, public history, maritime history, and oral history methods.
