Dr. Jamie Vaudrey is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Marine Sciences at the University of Connecticut. Her research focuses on coastal ecosystem dynamics, particularly land-use impacts, eutrophication in embayments, and seagrass as indicators of water quality. She holds a B.A. from Wellesley College and a Ph.D. in Oceanography from UConn (2007). Before her current role, she conducted postdoctoral research on seagrass restoration and hypoxia modeling in Long Island Sound and Narragansett Bay.
Her work integrates biogeochemical modeling, field studies, and policy engagement. Notable projects include developing nitrogen load-trophic status models for Long Island Sound embayments and evaluating seagrass genetic diversity and restoration efficacy across New England. She also contributed to the Connecticut Institute for Resilience & Climate Adaptation (CIRCA), focusing on green infrastructure resilience planning.
Key research themes include nitrogen cycling in estuaries, seagrass ecosystem services, and the socio-ecological dimensions of coastal management. Her recent publications address climate-driven coastal changes, community-based monitoring networks, and the role of dredge materials in wetland restoration.
