معرفی
Professor Jamie Shutler is a faculty member at the University of Exeter's Department of Earth and Environmental Science. His work focuses on satellite Earth observation, in situ monitoring, and modeling to study interactions between land, water, and atmosphere. He has contributed to the IPCC's Special Report on Oceans and UNESCO's ocean carbon research vision. His research team (JamieLab) includes 2 postdocs and 1 PhD student.
Education:
- BEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering, 1st Class, University of Southampton (1994–1998)
- PhD in Statistics, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning, University of Southampton (1998–2002)
Research Interests: Satellite remote sensing of marine carbonate systems, ocean-atmosphere CO2 flux dynamics, climate change impacts, and water quality monitoring. His work integrates machine learning with environmental data to address global challenges like carbon accounting and ocean acidification.
Media Engagement: Featured in The Guardian, BBC News, Forbes, and others. Contributed to UK parliamentary inquiries on ocean acidification and sustainable seas.
Lab & Collaborations: Leads JamieLab at the Exeter Marine Research Network. Collaborates internationally on projects like OceanSODA and SKIMSciSoc, advancing satellite-based ocean monitoring.
