Dr. Jamie Pow is a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at Queen's University Belfast, within the School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics. His research focuses on democratic innovations, citizen engagement, and political behavior in post-conflict societies, particularly Northern Ireland. He teaches modules on Northern Ireland's political conflict, democratic institutions, and comparative politics. Dr. Pow is the Study Abroad Coordinator for visiting students and has served on the Advisory Group of the Citizens' Assembly for Northern Ireland. His work explores electoral systems, deliberative democracy, and public opinion dynamics, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to peaceful societies. He has authored over 39 research outputs and is affiliated with KU Leuven's Democratic Innovations and Legitimacy Research Group.
His research interests include consociationalism, electoral studies, and quantitative methods. He actively participates in academic activities such as peer reviews, invited talks, and hosting visiting scholars. Recent media engagements include analyses of UK general elections and Brexit-related political dynamics.
