Dr. Jamie L. Brooks is an Assistant Professor of Biology at the University of Lynchburg, where they joined in 2018. They hold a PhD in Microbiology & Immunology from Virginia Commonwealth University and a BS in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Lynchburg. Their research focuses on bacterial virulence mechanisms, molecular genetics of bacteriophages, and tick-borne pathogen surveillance in Central Virginia. They teach courses such as Genetics, Microbiology, and Introduction to Bioinformatics.
