Dionysios Liveris, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology at New York Medical College (NYMC). He serves as Director of the Microbiology Laboratory Educational Program and as Laboratory Safety Officer (LSO) for NYMC's BSL3 facility since its inception. His expertise spans Bacterial Genetics, Microbiology, and Diagnostics, with a focus on Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme disease) and Anaplasma phagocytophilum (Human Granulocytic Anaplasmosis). He has extensive experience in managing research laboratories and curricula, having worked at NYMC for over 20 years prior to his current roles.
Dr. Liveris holds a Ph.D. from City University of New York (CUNY), an M.S. and M.P.S. from CUNY, and a B.S. in Biology from City College of New York. His postdoctoral research at NYMC solidified his specialization in spirochetal pathogens.
